El trompetista - pianista y compositor Arturo Sandoval, se ha convertido en uno de los mejores músicos de jazz emigrantes de Cuba. Es uno de los miembros fundadores de la Orquesta Cubana de Música Moderna, más conocida desde 1973 como "Irakere". Muy influenciado por Dizzy Gillespie, con quien ha grabado e ido de gira. Toca también como miembro de la Gillespie´s United Nation Orchesta. Actualmente, su disco AMERICANA (1999) incluye canciones como She´s Out Of My Life de Michael Jackson, y otras del grupo Chicago, Sting, y una canción recientemente reversionada por Fugees, Killing Me Softly...
